Excellent for my first setup flyfishing
Taking this out for my first time it didn't take me long at all to start pulling in panfish, even if my technique still needs a little help, I even pulled in a couple bass, I'll say that you need to make sure you have the proper flies, before trying it out, you'll struggle on anything not meant for fly fishing, especially poppers that scoop/dive instead of rise/skip on the surface. As for the setup I'm very happy with the reel, it's all aluminum aside from the decently shaped cranking handle, I love that the spool comes off so easily, I'll be ordering spare spools for sinking or intermediate line later. The rod is satisfactory, maybe a little slower action would be easier to learn on, and I just need to catch some larger fish for this 8 weight to start feeling more lively I think. the cork handle feels absolutely great, and the fighting but work well in my rod holders. I did once the base section pop out, but I think it was more because my technique was poor at the beginning, as it didn't do it at all later, I was fishing for 5 hours straight. I took this out paddleboarding for my first experience and granted I've been using one for a couple years, it was very exhilarating how stable I was feeling while using this for all sorts of casts. It was also very nice not having to worry about snagging land for beginning, but I'm planning on stream fishing the Kinni this summer yet. I see using this for many decades to come, everything is very robust. The line would be the only thing I think I would improve on, but for the price I'm glad this is what they saved on. I was thinking of rating @4 stars but it's really not worth docking stars off for that. It's probably just the sunburn talking. Word from the unwise, use all the sunscreen, you'll be out 3 times longer with this than you planned to be, it was that fun.

Amazing quality - regardless of price...
And the price can't be beat! This modern fly rod and reel combo is on par with a setup that would have cost hundreds of dollars five or so years ago. The craftsmanship and attention to detail shows. This setup seemed like a no-brainer to me, but I admit I was skeptical. I could tell when I set it up that it was going to be great. This is the perfect way to go if you are starting to gear up for this sport.
